ARLENE NORA ARLOW - President and Executive Director

Arlene Nora Arlow is a Bookkeeper by trade who teaches people how to use computers.  Most of her teaching is done one-on-one in the comfort of the client’s home or office in places from Chilliwack to Sparwood to Vernon and points inbetween.  Arlene also teaches via email and telephone for computer users who are too far away to receive one-on-one attention. 

Arlene specializes in the QuickBooks accounting software.  She also tutors for Simply Accounting, Microsoft Excel, MS Outlook, MS Outlook Express, Facebook, PayPal and other platforms.

 She is perhaps the most proficient QuickBooks user in Canada using a skill-set that is entirely self-taught.  Arlene pushes QuickBooks to its limits, at times finding solutions to software issues before both her peers and the manufacturer.

 She continues to learn her computer skills from experience, peers, students and clients.  When teaching, Arlene embraces Canada's 4-H Motto "Learn To Do By Doing":  her students “do”, they don’t just “watch”.  She established the Addventive Academy www.addventive.com to help people leverage the power of her favorite bookkeeping software.  Arlene takes bookkeeping seriously, and wants you to learn "Bookkeeping with QuickBooks" the right way!

 Arlene Arlow holds an Honours Certificate in Secretarial Arts from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology), Canada's largest technical institution.  Arlene uses her website www.addventive.com to market her 600-page guide "Bookkeeping with QuickBooks® In Canada".

 Arlene was one of the first members of the Voice of Advisor and the Voice of Trainer committees with Intuit Canada Ltd.  She attended the first full-length Discovery conferences offered by Intuit Canada Ltd. including the first Discovery 2004 in Jasper, Alberta; Discovery 2004.2 in Niagara Falls, Ontario; and the Discovery 2005 conference in Vancouver, British Columbia.  These conferences were excellent networking opportunities to meet bookkeeping and accounting peers from across Canada.

I am working my way through Bookkeeping with QuickBooks...and just cannot resist dropping you a note to say how well-written it is.  I guess you already know that, but feedback never hurts.

It is most frustrating when one has a manual and some steps are missing - as happened when I took computerized accounting in 1992.  When one is already challenged by a computer program, it is confusing if steps are missing.

Thanks again for the book.  Working through it is helping me without having to learn everything the hard way.  Familiarity is wonderful!
